On arrival in Perth you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a city tour of Perth including beautiful Kings Park where you can see the broad expanse of the Swan River. Enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director and travelling companions. Stay: Travelodge Perth Hotel (D) |
Day
2 |
The Pinnacles
Travel to Yanchep National Park, where you will enjoy an Aboriginal cultural experience. Meet Aboriginal guides who will treat you to the enchanting sounds of the didjeridu. Visit Nambung National Park to view the mystical Pinnacles, formed by calcified limestone thousands of years ago. In places they reach up to three and a half metres tall. Some are jagged, sharp-edged columns, rising to a point; while others resemble tombstones. Stay: All Seasons Geraldton (B/D) |
Day
3 |
Kalbarri National Park
Visit Kalbarri National Park and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Murchison River Gorge from Hawks Head Lookout. Travel to Hamelin Pool to see the world's best known colony of Stromatolites, then visit spectacular Shell Beach, formed by billions of tiny white seashells. Continue to Monkey Mia this afternoon. Stay: Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort (2 nights) (B/D) |
Day
4 |
Monkey Mia
Early this morning watch for the famous dolphins that swim into shore. (Note: As dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed.) The Monkey Mia Dolphins have been visiting the beach for more than forty years.
They are wild, native to the area and yet visit of their own accord up to three times per day all year round. The region is famous for its crystal blue waters and the pristine white shell and sandy beaches contrasting against the red pindan soil of the North West. The rest of the day is at leisure. Perhaps take an optional sailing cruise to spot dugong and dolphins. (B) |
Day
5 |
Ningaloo Reef
Head north to Carnarvon, travel to Coral Bay and join a sub-sea viewer and cruise over the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia's largest coral reef. It is a virtually untouched barrier reef of 260km length protecting a shallow, brilliant white sandy lagoon of clear tropical waters. One of the rare places on earth where you are able to walk from the beach straight onto a coral reef. More than 500 species of tropical fish and 220 species of coral make up the Ningaloo Reef; a protected marine park. Stay: Potshot Hotel Resort, Exmouth (B/D) |
Day
6 |
The Pilbara
This morning visit Giralia Station, a remote outback station and birdwatcher’s paradise. Travel inland to the mineral rich Pilbara region. Stay: Rocklea Palms, Paraburdoo (B/L/D) |
Day
7 |
Karijini National Park
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the Pilbara Open Cut Iron Ore Mine. You will be amazed by the massive pit and see the huge machinery in action. Journey into Karijini National Park. The startling landscape of spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools, created by millions of years of erosion, provides a striking contrast to the stark red of the Pilbara landscape. Stay: Deluxe Eco Tents with Ensuites, Karijini Eco Retreat (B/L/D) |
Day
8 |
Port Hedland
Journey parallel to 80 Mile Beach and skirt the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, a desolate land of spinifex and sand hills. Arrive in Port Hedland, gateway to the Pilbara. The port is a major shipping outlet for this mineral rich region. Stay: All Seasons Port Hedland (B/D) |
Day
9 |
80 Mile Beach – Broome
Travel parallel to 80 Mile Beach and the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, before arriving in idyllic Broome. Broome is situated on the North West coast of Western Australia, and until the mid 1980s was only accessible by a dirt road. On a narrow peninsula surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and Roebuck Bay, and recognised as a world class migratory bird stopover, it is a town where after watching a beautiful sunset you can retire for the night to the sound of waves crashing onshore and wake up to see the sun rise on the other side of the town amidst a torrent of birdsong. See Chinatown and Stretters Jetty where pearling luggers unload their fresh catch of oysters. Stay: Cable Beach Club Resort (2 nights) (B) |
Day
10 |
Broome at leisure
Enjoy a day at leisure exploring this tropical hideaway. Directly opposite the hotel is Cable Beach, 22km of white sand. Perhaps take an optional camel ride along Cable Beach. (B) |
Day
11 |
Derby – Depart Broome
You will be transferred to Broome Airport to connect with your onward flight (B)
The Indian Pacific Option: Why not add a journey aboard the Indian Pacific to the beginning this tour? Step aboard and sit back, relax and watch the scenery go by or take advantage of all the great facilities available. Please enquire for details.
