Kakadu National Park
Join your local AAT Kings Driver/Guide this morning. Travel into Kakadu National Park. View ancient Aboriginal art at Nourlangie Rock. At Cooinda join a wildlife cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Later, visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Stay: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn (B/L)

Kakadu – Darwin
This morning view rock art at Ubirr. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River. We have an Aboriginal guide with us and with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, before returning to Darwin. Stay: Holiday Inn Esplanade, Darwin (2 nights) (B/L)

Time at lesiure this morning before you join your Tour Director for a sightseeing tour of Darwin. Visit the museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink. (B/D)

Katherine Gorge
Bid farewell to the Northern Capital as we head towards Katherine. Stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery before we continue past the gold mining town of Pine Creek. In Nitmiluk National Park we cruise through Katherine Gorge. Stay: Paraway Motel, Katherine (2 nights) (B/D)

Travel across vast cattle stations into Western Australia. See Lake Argyle, Australia’s largest man-made lake. Join an adventure cruise along the Ord River, from Lake Argyle to Kununurra.

After breakfast enjoy a tour of Kununurra. See the results of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and explore Hidden Valley National Park. Stay: Country Club Hotel, Kununurra (2 nights) (B/D)

This morning we travel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. See the bird life of this region and learn about traditional lifestyles. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout for sensational views over the Cambridge Gulf. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural, before continuing to Kununurra. (B/D)

El Questro Wilderness Park
This morning cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole abounded by tropical vegetation. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time to hike into Emma Gorge. Stay: Emma Gorge Resort, 2 nights, tented cabins with private facilities, power and linen provided. (B/D)

Argyle Diamond Mine
Journey north of Halls Creek and enter the Argyle mining lease. A local guide will join us and conduct a tour of Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world’s largest diamond mine, which produces one quarter of the world’s diamonds annually. This afternoon travel to El Questro Wilderness Park, a million acres in the heart of the Kimberley. Brimming with natural wonders including magnificent mountain ranges, rambling rivers, gorges, thermal springs and vast stretches of spinifex plain, it is truly one of the world’s few remaining wild frontiers. Geikie Gorge
This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River, tunnelling through the Napier Range. Watch for wildlife as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us. Travel to Halls Creek, situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert. Stay: Kimberley Hotel, Halls Creek (B/L)

Derby – Fitzroy Crossing
Travel to the port of Derby, situated on the edge of King Sound. Visit the famous Boab Prison Tree, used by the first police as an overnight holding cell. Travel through some of Australia’s biggest pastoral properties, to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. Stay: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing (B)

Broome at leisure
Enjoy a day at leisure exploring this tropical hideaway. Directly opposite the hotel is Cable Beach, 22km of white sand. Perhaps take an optional camel ride along Cable Beach. Broome is situated on the North West coast of Western Australia, and until the mid 1980s was only accessible by a dirt road. On a narrow peninsula surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and Roebuck Bay, and recognised as a world class migratory bird stopover, it is a town where after watching a beautiful sunset you can retire for the night to the sound of waves crashing onshore and wake up to see the sun rise on the other side of the town amidst a torrent of birdsong.
