Tour Itinerary

Rise early this morning to travel to the sunrise viewing area at the eastern end of Uluru. Watch the first rays of dawn set Uluru and the Red Centre alight whilst enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee.

After sunrise, travel by coach to Kuniya Piti, an Aboriginal sacred site at the base of Uluru. Your Guide will escort you on a 1 hour walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, pointing out the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal rock paintings and traditional Aboriginal stories relating to this special place.

Experience the sheer size of Uluru as your Guide explains the geological formation, Aboriginal history and the flora and fauna unique to this area. On arrival at Mutitjulu Waterhole pause to take in the tranquility of your surrounds. This permanent waterhole was once an important water source for Anangu (the local Aboriginal people). At certain times of the year you may see bush plums, a native bush food for the Anangu.

Travel by coach around the base of Uluru before reaching Kantju Gorge, where after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres to the ground. From here we do the Mala Walk, which takes you through one of the most important habitation areas for the Aboriginal people over thousands of years. Morning tea consisting of orange juice and fruit cake is provided by your Guide.

There is time to visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where there is opportunity to learn more about Anangu and Tjukurpa (Anangu beliefs and law). There is also the opportunity to view and purchase locally made Aboriginal souvenirs. Before returning to Ayers Rock Resort, you will be rewarded with an Uluru Base Walkers Certificate and an interpretive information sheet about Uluru.

Departs daily 90 mins prior to sunrise. Free hotel pick-ups are provided at central locations. If your hotel/motel is not included then full address details of the departure point will be provided in your itinerary. Tour returns 12:00pm approx.
